I have to admit, I wasn't always a fan of In-N-Out. I remember when the first one opened up in my hometown, everyone was so excited. I think I was in middle school at the time, and since I was such a Non-Conformist (you can't tell me what to eat!), I was skeptical. In-N-Out seemed to me to be putting on airs- "look at them, with their fresh ingredients and limited menu! Think they're too good to be fast food, eh?". I was a weird kid. Anyway, my opinion on In-N-Out has mellowed over the years, and now I enjoy eating their burgers from time to time (still don't enjoy eating their fries though- those are terrible). This time JoJoJoJo and I stopped at the In-N-Out off of the 5, at the Kettleman City exit. I got the same thing I always get, which is the double-double animal style. Should I assume everyone knows what that means? Maybe not? If you aren't familiar with the In-N-Out menu, a double double is a double cheeseburger, and animal style means extra grilled onions, extra pickles and extra sauce (I think its thousand island dressing). The result is a greasy, salty, dripping mess that is incredibly tasty. I'm sure its terrible for you but man it is a good burger.

I just wanna get this going, 'cause it's so damn tasty. I really like to put Taco Bell's Hot hot sauce on my double doubles. Animal style of course. I haven't experimented with any other hot sauces, but this just seems like the perfect blending of fast foods.
ReplyDeleteoh man thats a great idea!
ReplyDeleteHmm. I just don't know how much I can trust the opinion of a person who calls the only fries in the fast food world that taste like real potatoes "terrible". The are not terrible-- they are awefully awesome-- as in awe inspiring. Even better if you ask them for "crispy".
ReplyDeleteyeah when i was a kid i loved their burgers but was always put off by the simple menu. "where's the extreme bacon western spicy chicken supreme? do you offer no product with more than two words in the name?"
ReplyDeletealso those fries are good! they are soggy, but in a delicious way.
I don't think they taste like potatoes at all! in fact there seems to be far less potato in each fry compared to other restaurants. I understand I'm kind of in the minority in this debate but honestly I can't understand why anyone likes in-n-out fries.
ReplyDeleteThey taste like potatoes because they are. You can actually watch them being cut and dropped into the oil right in front of you. They taste like potatoes unlike say McDonalds, where they are soaked in sugar water. I understand they are not as pretty as other fries, that's because they aren't sorted out in some factory before being frozen. Try making fries at home and see if they don't taste just like In-N-Out.
