NY Times on Ike's, via SFist
So I guess Ike's is so popular that they've had to cut down on their hours. My mentality when it comes to purveyors of fine sandwiches is all positivity, so I'm a little hesitant to say this.... but doesn't anyone else think Ike's is overrated? Like, not BAD, definitely GOOD, but man people are losing their shit over this place and frankly I think there are better places to get sandwiches in the area without having to wait half an hour. ANYWAY Ike's is great, don't get me wrong, but the secret ingredient in their sandwiches is hype.

ReplyDeletePal's Take Away is great! As an alternative to Ike's, however, both the menu and hours are pretty limited.

ReplyDeletehowever, i think it's a little different for people with diet restrictions. ike's has a massive selection of vegan sandwiches, plus gluten free bread for "those people."
there's plenty of vegan sandwiches in san francisco, but usually it's one or two things on a menu (or lots of substitutions); i think that explains some of the ike's mania.
oh and i dont think it makes sense to cut hours if your business is doing well, doesnt it make more sense to be open longer....hmmmm seems a bit retarded
